During a September 14-15 outreach visit to Wau, U.S. Embassy officials held separate meetings with the Governor and County Commissioner, and met multiple implementing partners and beneficiaries of USAID’s Shejeh Salam project and the new youth activity.
Local civil society organizations described the great work they are doing, with support from the Shejeh Salam project. This includes peacefully addressing periodic conflicts between cattle-herders and farmers. Partners also described initiatives to empower youth, foster entrepreneurship, combat gender-based violence, and support independent journalism.
