Statement by the Embassies of the United States of America and of the United Kingdom on the Committee to Investigate the Death of Christopher Allen

The transitional government’s formation of a committee to investigate the death of journalist Christopher Allen more than six years after his death on August 26, 2017 is a long awaited step in the right direction.  Mr. Allen was a dual national American-British citizen who was killed while working as a journalist covering clashes between the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-in Opposition (SPLA-IO).  The formation of a committee must be followed by a thorough investigation that is credible.  Its findings must be made public and lead to accountability.
