The U.S. Embassy in Juba has confirmed the possible availability of seats on a commercial flight with Ethiopian Airlines from Juba to Addis Ababa on Friday, May 1, 2020.
The Ethiopian Airlines website does not currently show the flight as available. Typically, Ethiopian Airlines updates the website one day prior to the flight. Be prepared to book quickly. Contact Ethiopian Airlines directly for further information.
In the event of a flight, Government of South Sudan authorities ask that travelers arrive at the airport at least three hours prior to departure due to lengthy check-in procedures.
This flight (if confirmed by Ethiopian Airlines) may be cancelled at any time. This flight may be delayed or changed at any time. If you want to leave South Sudan, do so now. This may be the last flight out of South Sudan. Do not assume there will be another flight after this one.

- All travelersmust have an onward ticket departing Addis Ababa or the traveler will be quarantined in Addis Ababa for 14 days at the traveler’s expense.
- This flight will require an overnight layover in Addis. The traveler will be required to stay at a Government of Ethiopia approved hotel at the traveler’s own expense. Once at the hotel, do not leave your room. All meals will be delivered via room service. The traveler will be transported to and from the hotel by Government of Ethiopia approved transportation. If a travelerneeds emergency assistance, call the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa at 011-130-6000.
- All travelers should book Washington IAD as their first Port of Entry into the United States, no matter what the traveler’s ultimate destination is. Other destinations from Addis to the United States are routinely getting canceled due to lack of demand.
